2020 Accomplishments

2020 was a year like no other.  Due to the Covid19 pandemic, the Vincent A. Huggins Foundation annual fundraiser was canceled.  However,  we continued Vincent’s legacy of giving and service that has impacted many lives as he wanted.  We would like to thank each and everyone who continue to support the Foundation.  In 2020, because of your generosity, we were able to make donations to the following worthy causes:

·        We provided financial assistance directly to cancer patients to assist with their treatment.

·        We contributed funding to students to assist with their college expenses.

In addition, our focus in 2020 was centered on three important issues, Race Relations in our Country, Suicide Prevention and the COVID-19 Pandemic. 

·        Race Relations

With racial tension at its highest in this country, the presence of the South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race is very much needed now more than ever.  We contributed to the Community Coalition on Race in support of their mission to fund programs and initiatives that support their efforts to build and sustain a community that is racially, culturally and socially integrated and truly inclusive where there is equity and equality for all. 

·        Suicide Prevention

We contributed to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.  In light of the pandemic and the current fight against racism, suicide is on the rise in our world.  We hope that our contribution will be able to combat the stigma of mental health by building awareness and providing support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress.

·        COVID-19 Pandemic

During this time of great uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been comforted by the support of our health care professionals in the community. Our remarkable front line health care workers have all stepped up to support our communities by working effortlessly to eradicate this unpredictable virus and care for our ailing families and friends in the community. We supported the American Nurses Foundation’s Coronavirus Response Fund for Nurses, to ensure that these nurses had the resources they needed to continue their work.

The goal of the Vincent A. Huggins Foundation is to continue making a difference in people’s lives during these uncertain times.  Thanks to all our supporters for their contributions towards helping us reach that goal!
